GIFKINS BIG JIG

Details:
• As with our standard jig, the Gifkins Big Jig is used with a table mounted router.
• Due to the weight of the jig plus workpiece, the router table needs to be rigid and solidly built.
• The workpiece stands vertically on the jig and is clamped in place.
• For very large workpieces, it is possible to use the router by hand, with the work held in a vice and the jig clamped across the end of the board.
• The finished joints from the “Big B” and the “Big C” templates look much the same, the main difference being the thickness of the timber they will handle (the “Big B” up to 22 mm and the “Big C” up to 32 mm).
• With care, it is possible to dovetail boards up to 2 m long.
• The “Big B” template uses the same cutters as the B templates on the standard jig.
• Both dovetail cutters are 8°
• The “B” and “C” cutters are all ½” shank.
• It is possible to use the “A” and “H” templates (with the appropriate cutters) on the Big Jig, but these templates are better suited to the smaller (standard) jig.
